Bribery At It’s Best (Perfect Parents Look Away!) and

So Alexander turned three in December. 3 years old. He still goes to bed with a cup (a 360 cup, so that’s bonus points right?). I know, I know. It’s bad, take it away immediately, it’s bad for his teeth. I know. I’ve heard it all but as a mom, I pick and choose my battles. Alexander still wakes up 2/3 times a night. The easiest way to get him back to sleep quickly? Refill his cup. So this is a battle I’ve chosen not to fight for a long time. But it’s time. Winter is here (GOT reference. More bonus pints right?) And it’s time for me to fight. It’s time to take away the cup. (Insert crying emoji) So today I headed to my local Dollar Tree and bought a plastic green bin and…. $20+ worth of small toys and fun things.

I’ve decided each night he goes without a cup he will get to choose a toy. Now will this work? I have absolutely no clue but I’m going to try. My arsenal of brides consists of

  • Rubber ducks
  • Light up footballs
  • Bath toy frogs
  • Magnetic drawing board
  • Play-doh
  • Sling shot toy
  • Water ball- sponge things

Not pictured is…

  • Bubbles
  • Chalk
  • Small card games
  • Small dinosaurs and other animals

So please tell me I’m not alone. Please tell me I’m not the only mom out there willing to bribe her child with new toys. And if you have done this, please tell me it works. Leave a comment down below if you’ve struggled with something similar and if it worked.
